Invited Luncheon Speaker - February

Geology of the North Shore near Grand Marais
Biography
Mr. Boerboom has worked as a Precambian
geologist for the Minnesota Geological Survey since 1987
I have worked as a Precambrian geologist for Minnesota Geological Survey
since 1987, during which time I have mapped in all the major Precambrian
terranes in the state, including Archean rocks of the Minnesota River
Valley, Wawa, and Quetico Subprovinces; Paleoproterozoic rocks in east-central
Minnesota, and Keweenawan rocks in northeastern Minnesota and Pine County.
Prior to working at the MGS I worked short stints for the Minnesota DNR-Division
of Minerals, Noranda Exploration, and Kafka Granite Company.
I am currently working on two quadrangle-sized geologic
maps along the North Shore near Grand Marais, production of a 1:100,000-scale
bedrock map for the Carlton County Atlas, and a Precambrian bedrock map
of Chisago County. Mr. Boerboom received his Bachelors Degree from University
of Minnesota-Morris
and his master's degree in geology from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
