An excellent opportunity exists at AMEC Earth and Environmental (Midwest
Region) for an entry to mid-level geophysicist/geologist. AMEC performs
geophysical site characterization at federal and commercial sites throughout
North America, Europe, and the South Pacific. The geophysical site characterization
is in support of AMEC’s Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) teams. The ideal
candidate should be familiar with geophysical equipment, global positioning
systems (GPS), and data management. This position is perfect for a technical
geo-scientist who is task oriented and well organized. It’s an excellent
opportunity for advancement within newly developed program, an opportunity
for challenging and diverse work on a daily basis and an opportunity to
travel both within the US and internationally.
Job
This job will require the management of various
geophysical tasks from proposal assistance (scoping and costing) to project
task implementation, completion, and report preparation. This person must
be able to assist in the performance of geophysical site characterization
projects throughout North America. This person will be involved in all
technical job related activities, production of project documents including
proposals, quality assurance project plans, health and safety plans and
data reports, and provide support to the Minneapolis Office in the areas
geophysics, hydrogeology and geology.
Accountabilities
This person will be responsible for managing project
tasks with an emphasis on geophysical site characterization and possible
hydrogeological site assessment and reporting. They will be capable of
presenting project results to the Senior Technical and or Project Manager
for use in formal settings and presentations to regulatory agencies and
the customer.
Knowledge
Bachelor of Science in Geophysics with at least 2 years experience in
the geophysical sciences and/or environmental industry including field
experience and knowledge of field investigation techniques is preferred.
Masters degree in geophysics accepted as 2 years of work experience. Bachelor
of Science in Geology/Hydrogeology will be considered if relevant geophysical
field experience exists. Excellent technical writing and communication
skills, attention to detail, an ability to follow complex requests, and
a strong work ethic is essential.
Knowledge of geophysical
(e.g. GeoSoft), GIS (e.g. ArcView) and data management (e.g. MS Access)
software is preferred.
Travel is required for this position. Travel may be up to 75%.
Experience with UXO will
be highly regarded.
