Spring Social -
Mark your calendar - April 29, 2010, the 12th Annual Spring Social.
The speaker will be Dr. James Cotter, speaking on the "The
Late Paleozoic Glacial Geology of Brazil – a model for the future
of Minnesota?"
What will Minnesota look
like in 100 Million years? What will become of the lakes,
rivers, landscape and surficial materials? It may be that
the late Paleozoic glacial features of Brazil can provide the answer.
Since 1989 a cooperative research project involving the faculty
and students of both the University of Minnesota Morris and the
Universidade de Sao Paulo has compared the relatively recent glacial
features of Minnesota with the ancient glacial features of Brazil
to better understand the past and the future. This talk will
discuss that research, the overall geology of Brazil and the influence
geology has on the people of Brazil.
May 4, 2010 Luncheon -

for native mussel populations."
